Bayern Munich Legend Thomas Müller to Depart After 25 Glorious Years

Bayern Munich has officially announced that Thomas Müller will leave the club at the end of the 2025-26 season, bringing an end to his remarkable 25-year association with the German giants. The decision comes after mutual agreement between the club and the veteran forward, concluding lengthy contract extension talks.

A Legacy of Triumphs
Müller, 35, joined Bayern’s youth academy in 2000 and rose to become one of the club’s greatest icons. Over his illustrious career, he amassed:
– 12 Bundesliga titles
– 2 UEFA Champions League trophies (2013, 2020)
– 2 FIFA Club World Cups
– 2 UEFA Super Cups
– 8 DFL-Supercup wins

With 33 total trophies, he stands as Bayern’s most decorated player in history.

Farewell Season & Future Plans
This season, Müller has taken on a reduced role, making 25 league appearances (8 starts) and scoring once. However, his influence in the dressing room remains immense as Bayern push for another Bundesliga title and a dream Champions League “Finale Dahoam” (home final) in Munich.

In an emotional statement, Müller said:
“Today isn’t just any day, my 25 years at Bayern will end this summer. It’s been an incredible journey filled with triumphs, unforgettable moments, and a bond with our fans that will last forever. We’ll fight hard to bring more trophies and create lasting memories together.”

Club Tributes & Testimonial Match
Bayern president Herbert Hainer hailed Müller as “the definition of a Bavarian fairytale,” adding:
“From Ammersee to the Allianz Arena, he embodied Bayern’s spirit. His legacy is unmatched.”

The club will honor him with a special testimonial match during their FIFA Club World Cup campaign in the USA (starting June 15).

What’s Next for Müller?
While retirement rumors swirl, Müller has not confirmed his next move. Potential options include:
– A final playing challenge abroad (MLS, Saudi Pro League?)
– A coaching or ambassadorial role at Bayern
– A broadcasting career, given his charismatic personality
