Inter Milan Stuns Bayern Munich to Reach Champions League Semis, Keeps Treble Hopes Alive

Inter Milan kept their dream of a historic treble alive after a thrilling 2-2 draw against Bayern Munich at the San Siro, securing a 4-3 aggregate victory in the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals. The Nerazzurri will now face Barcelona in the semi-finals as they chase a repeat of their legendary 2010 treble under José Mourinho.

Dramatic Comeback Seals Semi-Final Spot
After Harry Kane leveled the tie for Bayern in the 52nd minute with a clinical finish, Inter responded emphatically. Captain Lautaro Martinez struck in the 58th minute, followed by Benjamin Pavard’s powerful header just three minutes later, sending the San Siro into raptures. Eric Dier’s late looping header gave Bayern hope, but it wasn’t enough to overturn the deficit.

Inzaghi’s Men Weather the Storm
The match was played in treacherous conditions, with heavy rain and strong winds disrupting play. Despite the challenges, Inter showcased resilience and tactical discipline. “We don’t give up, we have personality, heart, and intelligence,” Martinez said post-match. “We showed today that we can achieve great things.”

Treble Dreams Within Reach
Simone Inzaghi’s side remains in contention for three major trophies: they lead Serie A by three points over Napoli, face AC Milan in the Coppa Italia semi-finals, and now stand just two steps away from Champions League glory. Their next hurdle is a reunion with Barcelona, the team they defeated en route to their 2010 triumph.

Bayern’s European Dream Ends
For Bayern, the defeat marked another painful exit. Manager Vincent Kompany rued missed opportunities but acknowledged Inter’s strength. “When you look at how the tie went, we wouldn’t have wished for much different, except the goals we conceded,” he said. “That’s football.”

With the second leg against Barcelona set for May 6 at the San Siro, Inter’s passionate fans will hope their team can take one step closer to immortality.
