Al-Hilal returned to winning ways in the Saudi Pro League with a commanding 3-0 victory over Al-Khaleej in Matchweek 28. The win comes after a recent slump, where the Blues had failed to secure maximum points in their last two matches a 3-1 loss to Al-Nassr and a 1-1 draw with Al-Ettifaq.
With this crucial win, Al-Hilal strengthened their second-place position, now sitting on 61 points, just behind league leaders Al-Ittihad. Meanwhile, third-placed Al-Nassr, who face Al-Qadisiyah on Friday, could narrow the gap to just one point if they win their game in hand. On the other hand, Al-Khaleej remained stagnant in 10th place with 33 points.
Al-Hilal broke the deadlock in the 26th minute through star winger Salem Al-Dawsari. The Saudi international exchanged a quick one-two with teammate Caio Lucas on the left flank before firing a powerful shot into the net.
The hosts had to wait until the 84th minute to double their lead, with Al-Dawsari striking again. This time, Aleksandar Mitrović sprinted down the right wing before delivering a cross-field pass to Al-Dawsari, who made no mistake in slotting home.
Just four minutes later, Mitrović got on the scoresheet himself, finishing off a brilliant through ball from Rúben Neves to seal a convincing 3-0 victory.
Al-Hilal will look to maintain momentum as the title race heats up.
