Al-Hilal’s João Cancelo Sidelined for 8 Weeks with Hamstring Injury

Saudi Pro League giants Al-Hilal have confirmed that their star defender, João Cancelo, will be out of action for eight weeks due to a hamstring injury. The club made the announcement on Sunday via their official account on the social media platform ‘X’ (Twitter).

Medical examinations revealed that Cancelo sustained an injury to his hamstring, and he will now undergo an intensive treatment and rehabilitation program. The Portuguese international has been a key figure for Al-Hilal this season, featuring in 31 matches across all competitions during the 2024/25 campaign. During this time, he has contributed 2 goals and 11 decisive assists, showcasing his importance to the team.

In a related update, Al-Hilal also provided positive news regarding their striker, Aleksandar Mitrović. The Serbian forward is set to gradually rejoin group training after the team returns from Uzbekistan. Al-Hilal is scheduled to face Pakhtakor on Tuesday in an AFC Champions League Elite clash, and Mitrović’s return to training will be a welcome boost for the squad.

Cancelo’s absence will undoubtedly be a blow for Al-Hilal as they continue their pursuit of silverware on multiple fronts. However, the club’s depth and quality will be tested as they aim to maintain their strong form in both domestic and continental competitions.
