Al-Taawoun of Saudi Arabia held Iran’s Tractor to a 0-0 draw on Tuesday at the Yadegar-e-Emam Stadium in Tabriz, in the first leg of their AFC Champions League Elite quarter-final clash. The match saw Tractor dominate possession and create several chances, but their attackers failed to break down a resilient Al-Taawoun defense.
The return leg is set for next Tuesday at Al-Taawoun’s home ground, Mrsool Park in Buraidah, with the winner advancing to the semi-finals. There, they will face the victor of the all-Emirati clash between Shabab Al-Ahli and Sharjah, who play their first leg on Wednesday in Dubai.
Al-Taawoun topped Group B with 15 points from six matches, while Tractor finished first in Group A with 10 points from four games. The semi-finals are scheduled for April, with the final set to take place on May 17.
Both teams will now focus on next week’s decisive second leg, as they aim to keep their AFC Champions League dreams alive.
