Another late winner for Real Madrid

In a thrilling first-leg encounter of the UEFA Champions League knockout round, holders Real Madrid staged a sensational comeback, winning 3-2 against Manchester City. Jude Bellingham’s late strike completed an incredible fightback as Madrid twice recovered from a deficit to take a slender advantage ahead of the return leg.

Erling Haaland was in fine form, scoring a brace, with his second goal coming from the penalty spot with just over ten minutes remaining, putting City in a strong position. However, Kylian Mbappé’s stunning long-range effort had earlier given the visitors the lead. Yet, Real Madrid responded bravely, with substitute Brahim Díaz pouncing on a rebound from an Ederson save to level the scores, and Bellingham netting the winner after brilliant play from Vinícius Júnior.

Vinícius Júnior’s performance earned him the Player of the Match award as Madrid secured a memorable win in a pulsating clash. Vinicius added that he was motivated before the match seeing the banner calling on him to stop crying over his ballondor lose with rival rodri.
