Al-Nassr secured a hard-fought 3-2 victory over Al-Ahli despite playing with 10 men, thanks to Jhon Duran’s stellar performance. The Colombian forward, who scored twice on his league debut last week, repeated the feat at Al Inma Bank Stadium on Thursday.
Duran opened the scoring in the 32nd minute with a stunning strike from the edge of the box. Al-Ahli hit the woodwork just before halftime, but the game erupted in chaos after the break. The hosts thought they had equalized through Ali Majrashi, but the goal was disallowed after a lengthy VAR review.
Al-Nassr’s Mohamed Simakan was then sent off for elbowing Ivan Toney, who later headed Al-Ahli level in the 78th minute. However, Aiman Yahya quickly restored Al-Nassr’s lead with a rebound goal after Edouard Mendy saved his initial shot.
Duran sealed the win with his second goal in the 88th minute, calmly finishing on the counter. Sumayhan Al Nabit’s late strike for Al-Ahli proved inconsequential as tempers flared at full-time. The win brought Al-Nassr within five points of league leaders Al-Ittihad.
In another match, Al-Qadsiah defeated Al-Shabab 3-2, briefly moving into third place before Al-Nassr’s victory.
