Neymar Faces Another Injury Blow: Santos Star Out for 4-6 Weeks with Hamstring Strain

Brazilian football icon Neymar Jr. has suffered yet another injury setback, with Santos confirming he will be sidelined for four to six weeks due to a hamstring issue. The 32-year-old was forced off in the first half of Santos’ 2-0 win over Atletico Mineiro on Thursday, cutting short his 100th appearance for the club.

Neymar, who recently returned to his boyhood team Santos, appeared emotional as he left the pitch just 34 minutes into the match. The forward had marked the milestone by wearing a special jersey with the number 100 instead of his usual 10. However, the celebration was overshadowed by the injury, adding to his long list of fitness struggles in recent years.

This latest setback comes after a turbulent period for Neymar, who endured a serious ACL injury in October 2023 while playing for Saudi club Al-Hilal. That injury, along with recurring muscle problems, led to the termination of his contract in the Middle East. Fortunately, this new hamstring issue is reported to be in a different muscle than his previous injury.

Santos, who were shockingly relegated in 2023, are still finding their footing in the Brazilian Serie A this season. With just four points from their first four matches, Neymar’s absence will be a major blow to their campaign. However, the club remains hopeful he can return swiftly to help steer their season back on track.

Fans worldwide will now wait anxiously for updates on Neymar’s recovery, hoping the talismanic forward can overcome this latest hurdle and return to the pitch stronger than ever.
