Ronaldo Fires Portugal Past Germany, Spain Outlast France in Thriller to Reach Nations League Final

In a breathtaking semifinal clash, defending champions Spain edged past France 5-4 in a goal-fest to book their place in the UEFA Nations league 2024 final, where they will face Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal. The match, played in Stuttgart, was a rollercoaster of attacking brilliance, late drama, and relentless intensity.

Spain’s Dominance and France’s Fightback
Spain stormed into a commanding lead with first-half goals from Nico Williams (23’) and Mikel Merino (25’). Lamine Yamal, the 16-year-old sensation, extended the advantage with a penalty (54’) before Pedri (55’) and Yamal again (67’) seemingly put the game out of reach at 5-1.

However, France launched a stunning late comeback. Kylian Mbappé converted a penalty (59’), substitute Rayan Cherki struck a superb effort (79’), an own goal by Dani Vivian (84’) narrowed the deficit, and Randal Kolo Muani’s stoppage-time strike (90+4’) set up a nervy finale. But Spain held on to secure their spot in Sunday’s final in Munich.

Historic Final Ahead: Spain vs. Portugal
The stage is now set for a blockbuster final between Iberian rivals Spain and Portugal, who defeated Germany 2-1 in the other semifinal. This will be Spain’s first EURO final since their 2012 triumph, while Portugal, led by the ageless Cristiano Ronaldo, seek their second European title after their 2016 victory.

Ronaldo, who scored his 137th international goal against Germany, will face a Spanish side brimming with young talent like Yamal and Williams. The clash promises to be a fascinating battle between Spain’s possession-based mastery and Portugal’s clinical attacking prowess.

The final at Munich’s Allianz Arena on Sunday will decide whether Spain reclaim their throne or Portugal add a second EURO title to their legacy. Football fans worldwide are in for a spectacle.
