Inter Milan Edge Bayern Munich 2-1 in Champions League Thriller

Inter Milan secured a crucial 2-1 away victory over Bayern Munich in the first leg of their Champions League quarterfinal, giving them a slight advantage ahead of the return fixture.

Argentine striker Lautaro Martínez opened the scoring for Inter in the 38th minute, capitalizing on a defensive lapse from Bayern. The hosts pushed hard for an equalizer, with Harry Kane and Michael Olise threatening, but Inter’s defense held firm.

Thomas Müller finally broke through for Bayern in the 85th minute, setting up a tense finale. However, substitute Davide Frattesi stunned the Allianz Arena crowd with a late winner for Inter just three minutes later (88’), sealing a vital away win.

This defeat marks Bayern’s first home loss in the Champions League since 2021, leaving them needing at least a two-goal victory in the second leg to advance. For Inter boss Simone Inzaghi, it was a personal triumph, as he finally defeated Bayern after four previous unsuccessful attempts.

The second leg promises high drama as both teams battle for a spot in the semifinals
