In a remarkable display of resilience, Al-Ahli fought back from a three-goal deficit to draw 3-3 with rivals Al-Hilal in a thrilling Saudi Pro League encounter on Friday. The match, played at King Abdullah Sports City Stadium in Jeddah, will be remembered as one of the most dramatic comebacks in the league’s history.
Al-Hilal dominated the first half, building a commanding lead with goals from Theo Hernández (12th minute) and a brace from Malcolm de Oliveira (24th, 41st). The visitors appeared to be cruising to victory as they entered halftime with a comfortable 3-0 advantage.
The second half told a completely different story. Al-Ahli mounted an incredible comeback in the final 12 minutes, beginning with Ivan Toney’s strike in the 78th minute. The English striker added another in the 87th minute before Turkish defender Merih Demiral completed the stunning revival with a 91st-minute equalizer.
