Riyadh, Saudi Arabia (July 23, 2025)– Saudi Pro League giants Al-Nassr have dramatically walked away from a deal to sign Slovakian international defender David Hancko from Dutch champions Feyenoord Rotterdam, according to international media reports.
Dutch publication Voetbal International revealed that while Al-Nassr had successfully negotiated an agreement with Feyenoord over the transfer of the highly-regarded center-back, the Saudi club abruptly reversed its decision at the eleventh hour.
The report states that Al-Nassr left the proposed transfer in limbo, with all discussions between the two clubs ceasing as of last Friday. No official reasons have been provided by Al-Nassr for the sudden breakdown in negotiations that led to the deal collapsing.
Al-Nassr had reportedly targeted Hancko, 27, as a key reinforcement for their defense, specifically aiming to fill the void expected by the imminent departure of Spanish defender Aymeric Laporte. Laporte is widely reported to be close to a return to his former club Athletic Bilbao in the current summer transfer window.
The unexpected withdrawal leaves Hancko’s immediate future at Feyenoord uncertain, despite the initial agreement being reached, and raises questions about Al-Nassr’s defensive recruitment plans following Laporte’s expected exit.
